CJW Builders - Web Design Case Study

What Chris Needed…

Chris, owner of CJW Builders decided he needed a website shortly after launching his business. He wanted to use it to generate new customers. From both search engines and by advertising the website on his business cards, leaflets and signs.
Web Design
Chris already had a logo designed. He also had clear idea about what he wanted in as far as website design and colour scheme.
Chris wanted to show potential customers that CJW Builders provides a high quality, reliable service. In order to show this he wanted his website to include photos of recent jobs and testimonials. But he also wanted to avoid paying a web designer update fees.

Our Services…

At Web Designer 500 we specialise in search engine optimisation. We’re able to drive thousands of customers to your website every month. We have experience in getting websites to the top of Google. This helps show your customers that you are a professional company.
Web Design
If you have an existing logo or colour scheme we can use them in the design of your website, or we can create a new logo and colour scheme.
All of our web design packages include minor, infrequent updates for free, for example changes to contact details. If you want to make regular changes to your website we can build you a content management system. This way you can make the updates yourself, saving you from paying expensive web designer hourly fees. Content management systems are also included in our web design package prices.

How We Helped Chris…

At the first brief it was obvious Chris knew what he wanted in a website. He already had a logo design (with a deep orange colour) and an idea about colour schemes (black and dark greys). Chris decided on the small business package. I designed 5 different websites for Chris to choose from. Two differed from the colour scheme that we discussed in the initial brief. This gave him a wide range to choose from.
Chris described how he wanted to add photos and testimonials to the website as and when he completed the jobs. This was to show potential customers the quality of his work. Fresh content on a website helps with search engine optimisation, so the benefits from this would be two fold. Most websites have one page for testimonials and one for photos. We decided to create a separate page for each project that Chris completes. This project page contains a description of the project, before and after photos and a testimonial. For Chris to upload this data I built a custom content management system.
Chris was using Facebook to advertise his business. I designed a Facebook Page with the same colour scheme and logo as his website.

The Results…

Chris is happy with his website. He finds the content management system easy to use. His website is interfaced with Facebook. Every time Chris adds a new project to the website his Facebook page is updated with a photo and some text. This halves the amount of time Chris spends uploading a new project.
New websites take a few months to get high up in the Google result pages. At the time of writing (November 2010) CJWBuilders.co.uk has only recently been launched so I’m unable to evaluate search engine results, but you can check the progress by viewing the Google search results for ‘lowestoft builders’.
