The Tigerlilys - Lowestoft Girl Band

The Tigelilys are a girl band based in Lowestoft. Claire, Co-Manager realised she needed a website to sell the band's services to owners of pubs and bars. Her main source of generating business was canvassing the bars/pubs in the local area. A website with a professional image would help secure bookings. Building a fan base is very important to Claire and Martina (Co-Manager of the Tigerlilys). They realised a website could be an excellent way of promoting the band to their fans. Another part of Claire’s business is creating and building theatre shows. Claire wanted a website to help promote the shows to theatre owners/managers.

Claire had no experience in running a website and couldn’t afford the expensive set up fees charged by most web designers.

Claire and Martina often need printed items such as posters, leaflets and postcards to promote the band to both fans and clients. Again cost is an issue and therefore Claire and Martina had been producing their own printed products, but wanted a higher level of quality.

At the first brief Claire explained what she wanted out of her website. I designed a site structure including all the pages for the site. I then decided on keywords for each page. To give Claire a wide range of choice I came up with three very different site designs with a range of different colour schemes and several logo designs. Claire and Martina picked out their favourite designs, then wrote the text required for each page, with a small amount of assistance from myself. Once built, Claire approved the site before we launched it. I also designed and developed a custom Facebook Page.

I wrote an easy to use link building strategy for Claire and Martina to carry out to help boost their search engine ranking. I also provided a social media strategy for them to help boost there Facebook Page popularity.

It normally takes a long time for a website to get ranked high in search engines but within a month we where seeing some very impressive results. At time of writing 1st November 2010, for the search term 'lowestoft girl band' the Tigerlilys website is top for Google UK, Yahoo UK and Google Maps. For the search term 'lowestoft band' the website is top for both Yahoo UK and Google Maps and position two (page one) for Google UK. These search engines are generating a lot of interest from potential clients and fans.
